June 9 – Dierks Bentley’s Last Call Ball 6, Limelight, Nashville, TN

Immediately after the CMT Awards, Rachel and I made our way over to Limelight for Dierks Bentley’s fan club party/Up on the Ridge album release party. With our fan club tickets, we scored meet and greets with Dierks and also received a gift bag loaded with a t-shirt, a copy of the Country Weekly issue featuring Dierks on the cover, a koozie and of course, a copy of the Up on the Ridge CD. We also got tickets for two free beers. I know that I say this all the time, but Dierks really is so good to his fans. Dierks played a set that was well over an hour long. The set list was very similar to the shows that he played on his Up on the Ridge tour and he featured the Travelin’ McCourys. Because we were late getting to the venue, we hung out in the back of the crowd and visited with some buddies that I’ve met at previous concerts. It was fun to catch up and it’s neat to think about people that I know from various parts of the country because of our love of country music! Pretty cool!!

Following his fantastic show, Dierks made his way to the back of the venue and began doing meet and greets for all of his fan club members. The line was chaotic and moved slowly, but it was soon clear the reason why the line was moving at a snail’s pace. Dierks was taking his time with each fan. He had meaningful conversations with everyone and seemed genuinely interested in every person. He is such a classy guy. This was my first official meet and greet with Dierks and I was so excited to meet him. By the time it was my turn, it was nearly 2 a.m. I walked up to him and said, “Hi, Dierks! I’m Amy!” We posed for our picture and then he said, “You look really familiar.” I should’ve said, “Probably because I’ve seen you four times in the last two months!” Instead I said, “Well, I was at BamaJam last weekend.” He was super nice and he autographed my copy of the new CD before my turn was over. Meeting him was definitely worth the wait. I heard from someone later that Dierks was at the venue until 3 a.m. meeting fans. He certainly appreciates his fans! He’s the kind of artist I am proud to support and I cannot wait to see his live show again soon!
