I’m a few weeks late in posting this, but Christy and I made a road trip to Augusta to see Brantley Gilbert with Rachel Farley opening. Rachel just recently signed her first recording contract with Average Joe’s Entertainment. While we were at the show, I had a chance to sit down and do an interview with Rachel. I will post that shortly. Rachel played a set which included original material and several very good covers. We are sure to be hearing a lot from her in the coming years!
Rachel Farley’s Set List
- Ain’t Easy
- Live That Night Again
- Jamey Johnson’s That Lonesome Song
- Dancing with the Devil
- Place to Land
- Pickens County Town
- Daddy’s Girl
- Sarah Buxton’s Stupid Boy
- Miranda Lambert’s Gunpowder and Lead
Following Rachel’s set, the Brandon Pruitt Band played. I missed most of their set because I was doing the interview with Rachel, but from what I heard, I liked their sound. They played songs with a Texas country flair and they also played several covers of popular country songs.
The crowd was primed and ready by the time that Brantley’s set started. The night was extra special because Brantley’s mom and several other family members were in attendance. Brantley played his usual high energy set filled with songs from both of his albums along with his great covers of Lie Baby Lie, Copperhead Road, Simple Man and Outlaw Women. He also threw in a cover of the timeless Vern Gosdin classic, “Chisled in Stone.” His version of the song will give you chills. Check out this great version that was filmed by Lyn, Brantley’s personal manager, one day when Brantley was just hanging out at his Pop’s motorcycle shop.
