One Year Later

How do I even begin to describe the past year? When I think back on all that’s happened, I’m overwhelmed, in awe and most of all grateful for all of the experiences and opportunities that I have been afforded. I started Country Concert Chronicles thinking that it would be a centralized place to share all of my concert photos and experiences with my friends. I had previously just uploaded my pictures to Picasa and e-mailed my friends to let them know that the pictures were posted. After a lot of encouragement from my incredibly creative and talented friend Ashley of Icemilk Aprons, I decided to overcome my doubts and give this blogging thing a try. My biggest fear was that my friends would think it was lame. But to my surprise, everyone was incredibly supportive and encouraging. I was even more surprised when complete strangers began responding. Over the past year, I’ve had a chance to meet some amazingly cool country music fans from across the country, both in person and through the social media sites.

The website has taken off more than I could have ever imagined. In the past year, I have had over 20,000 page views. I’ve also had press passes for some of country’s most exciting tours and festivals where I got to see some of the genre’s up-and-comers and some of its biggest stars from a different perspective. The thing that I never would’ve imagined I’d get to do was interview some of my favorite artists! And I got to wrap up the year by spending a few days in the studio with Rachel Farley as she recorded her debut album. Seeing the whole process of making music was the thrill of a lifetime and I cannot wait to hear the finished product. This girl is going to be a superstar!

The final concert tally for 2010 was 63 shows featuring over 75 artists in five states. Thank you to all of my friends who went on the crazy road trips. I always look forward to our late nights, trips to Waffle House and countless laughs. To all of the readers who have followed along with my adventures, thanks for your encouragement and feedback! You inspire me and make me want to work harder. I am especially appreciative of the new friends that I’ve made because of the blog. To all of the artists, publicists, managers and record label representatives, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being receptive to a relatively new medium for promoting your music. You’ve always made me feel that my work is appreciated and I hope that it has had a positive impact for you as well.

Here’s hoping that 2011 brings us all even more incredible country concerts. I cannot wait to catch some of the year’s biggest tours, discover more music by new artists and see what the year has in store for some of my favorites. I hope that you’ll continue to join me on this journey and offer your feedback, which I highly value. Thank you again for taking the time to read my posts and sharing your stories.

Take care and God bless!

Amy

  1. Waffle House…late nights…laughs…more laughs….sad stuff….sleeping in the RV at the truck stops…snoring women…..great experiences….so glad we met and became friends…more to come!

  2. Congratulations on your success! Since I’m a music nerd, I love reading about your experiences. You beat me in 2010 by six shows (my final number came in at 57). By the way, I just went on the Lynyrd Skynyrd Simple Man Cruise (January 20-24). Brantley Gilbert was one of the performers on the cruise and this was my first time seeing him in person. He has a super band and he sang “My Kinda Party” at all three of his shows (sounded better than Aldean). Happy and safe travels in 2011.

  3. AMY! congratulations – cannot believe it has been one year already. It is easy to have a successful blog when you are so passionate about the topic! I am so excited for all you have accomplished in one year πŸ™‚
